Earlier this week at the Metropolitan Museum in New York a student I guess tried to murder a Picasso painting by leaving a 6-inch gash in the lower right hand corner. Of course I jest the individual stumbled and fell into the $130 million dollar painting and left her mark, a very expensive mark. It just goes to show you that you can’t take some people anywhere. As an artist and designer it is something that you deal with all the time when your work is on display, the temptation of some to get too close and even touch. I have never understood why some are unable to keep a distance out of respect for the artist and their efforts. I hope not every museum ends up caging up its artwork out of fear for some clumsy disrespectful person. Full story here.

Now I am not a skater by any means, but I do love any small shop that incorporates independent labels/product, the hard to find shit & improves a neighborhood with their presence. DWNTWN skate shop is literally around the corner from my house so if you are a skater do support the small businesses in SF. Small spot doing big things…….respect.

Furniture has always been an incredibly influential aspect of design for me. I have not really designed any furniture but the likes of Charles and Ray Eames, Mies Van der Rohe and Le Corbusier have floated in my design mind for a long time now. Something about the smell of fresh cut wood and the colors in a beautiful woodgrain.

I would like to wish everyone !FELIZ DIA DE REYES! Ever since I was a kid dia de reyes was one of my favorite holidays because it was like christmas repeated itself only a week after it ended. I remember putting out my shoe with a list of what i didn’t get for christmas inside, while eating warm bread (rosca de reyes)and drinking hot chocolate (chocolate mexicano). It once was a time when my family was all together and happy.
